About my cousin Samual Mebius. Several summers ago I got a phone call from a fellow called Sam. First off Sam , in a Spanish Acent, said "It has taken me fifteen years to call you". " I didn't want to think you even existed, but we share the same grand father, My grand father married your grand mother. Problem is, I can't find any records where they ever got a divorce, that would make my grand father a bigamest". At this point some of it began to make some kind of sence.Yes I knew I had a grand father that had gone to some place in South America as a missionary. My father would never talk about his father the missionary. When my grand mother Mebius died I was about twelve years old. An aunt had a picture of a grave stone with "Fredick Ernest Mebius" name on it.There was a woman standing beside the stone clamming to be the daughter of the same. Even then my dad would not look at the picture and he leave the room would not talk about his dad. My son Stephen and Sam's Son began to corispond. That is when Sam learned about me and my family that he didn't want to beleive existed. Now Sam figured it was time to call. "I will like to come to Birmingham and meet you and your brothers". Sam and his wife Margaret did come for a visit.
Both Sam and his wife are just great, fantastic people. Sam and Margaret came out to the farm for dinner. Sam gave me a foulder of all the picturs and ansestral records he has put together about his most famous grand father that had gone to Al Salvador , South America. My grand mother chose not to follow him there and took my Uncle Fred, Aunt Christeen and my father to Tennessee the place of her birth. My father grew up there in Tennessee.
Last summer Sam called and ask if we would come to Florida to reunion with my four brothers once again. My brother Eddie emailed to me and said he didn't care to have any thing to do with Sam.....Jim could come at that time so Charles and Sysie, Charles wife had a big lunch for us and then we all drove down to my daughter Mary' for a party of parties. I emeil to Sam most every day and hope we can all meet again.
